    The United States-Japan Cooperative Science Program was initiated for the purpose of conducting research and exchanging ideas for the improvement of science education. A seminar was held in Honolulu in to discuss efforts and future directions of this cooperative program. This paper reviews the outcomes of the seminar in three areas. These include: (1) research (stating research questions. a book ban in the city, including books by Ernest Hemingway. The United Auto Workers' opposition to sit-down strikes. It typified New Deal public-works programs designed to keep natural resources in public rather than private control Its result, the Grand Coulee Dam, eventually produced the cheapest electricity in the nation.

    Information was requested on the nature and status of United States-Japan cooperative efforts in energy research and development. In May , the United States and Japan signed an agreement to cooperate on energy-related matters. This is an umbrella agreement for cooperation in several areas and is to run for 10 years. The initial areas to be emphasized are nuclear fusion and coal conversion.
